Lessons from Mr Eazi and Temi’s Celebration.
When it comes to weddings, one thing every couple secretly wishes for (apart from a stress-free day and food not running out) is a wedding that feels like them. Not a copy-paste of what they saw on Instagram or a recycled version of someone else’s “dream day” — but a celebration that screams “this is OUR love story.”
Recently, the wedding of Nigerian singer Mr Eazi and fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola set the internet buzzing. Beyond the glamour, what stood out was how the couple effortlessly infused their personal style into every detail. From their chic outfits to the intimate vibe of the ceremony, they proved that weddings are at their best when they mirror the couple’s personality.
So, let’s break it down — what can Ghanaian couples (and beyond) learn from this, and how can you also make your wedding a true reflection of you?
- Define What Makes You Unique.

Before picking décor colors or playlist vibes, sit down with your partner and ask:
- What do we both love? (Fashion? Music? Food? Travel?)
- How do we want people to feel at our wedding? (Elegant? Relaxed? Energetic?)
- What moments should reflect our personalities the most?
Mr Eazi and Temi clearly answered these questions. Their wedding wasn’t about keeping up with trends but about showing who they are — stylish, confident, and intentional.
They ensured every ceremony in every country they decided on blended with both their individual preference and their preferences as a couple. Every single detail was well defined.
2. Infuse Your Story into the Details

Personal style goes beyond the bride’s dress or the groom’s agbada. It’s in the details.
- Décor: Instead of random Pinterest colors, choose tones that resonate with your story. If you met at the beach, why not add a subtle coastal vibe?
- Fashion: Temi’s bridal looks were minimalist yet classy — true to her brand. The key is choosing outfits that feel like you, not costumes you wear just for the camera.
- Music & Entertainment: Who says you can’t dance into your reception with your favorite jam, even if it’s not “traditional wedding music”? Mr Eazi is a musician, so naturally, music played a central role. You can also curate a playlist that feels authentic.
Temi and Mr Eazi told a story with their venue, the decor, the food, the attire, the music, and the entire flow of the event.
3. Consider the Guest Experience

Your personal style should extend to how your guests feel. Mr Eazi and Temi’s wedding was intimate, focusing on meaningful connections over crowd size. Ghanaian weddings are usually a full community affair (sometimes whether you invited them or not, charley), but you can still create an atmosphere where your guests truly experience your love story, not just free jollof.
Think about:
For Food & Drinks: Add your favourites. If you and your partner bonded over Aunty Muni’s waakye, why not create a waakye buffet station with all the possible accompaniments from Aunty Muni? – Talk about devilled eggs, tossed spaghetti in stew, Ghanaian salad, some spicy dipped fried plantains, sliced avocados, loaded fried eggs, juicy wele stew, rich shito with shrimps and herrings, fried cassava fish, i could go on. This will get your guests excited and have them share in your story.
Temi and Mr Eazi made sure to serve local nigerian dishes for their traditional reception from their favourite food plug even though the event was happening in Dubai.
The traditional reception decor had a family style seating to make guests feel at home and be relaxed.
Program Flow: Keep it engaging. Nothing worse than a boring MC who talks too much and a DJ with poor game. Mr Eazi is a musician, so definitely music flow was well thought through.
