Greetings from Abroad
Priscy was the first Netherland based Ghanaian bride I worked with and we gelled immediately over the first phone call. I loved her sweet, soft spoken personality and her love for details. It was love at first sight when after many weeks of communicating over the phone, I met Priscy in person.
She commended my time consciousness as she greeted me at her apartment. She shared her love story with Robert, her expectations as a bride and their desires as a couple.
On the day of Robert and Priscy’s Traditional ceremony we encountered a black out as there was some maintenance works going on in the neighborhood. Robert and His groomsmen put on their superhero capes and went to the rescue. This delayed the start of the ceremony for about an hour or two, but once the ceremony started we all forgot the challenges that had preceded the event. It was a beautiful display of tradition as both Robert and Priscy dressed as a king and a queen, and danced gracefully like royals.
Another garden wedding ceremony it was; simple, classy and beautiful. I always say there’s a wild side to every person no matter how calm they look. And that’s exactly how the reception turned out, Robert and Priscy came out of their shells to have fun.
There was a monitor at the reception venue that Priscilla wanted covered completely so much so that she kept asking about it. I assured her it was covered even though it wasn’t and that was because, together with her maid of Honor, the venue coordinator, the MC and my team, we had a surprise for her. Just before their first dance, we brought Priscy her very own “Greetings from Abroad”. We had contacted Priscy’s friends and family abroad who couldn’t make it to Ghana to put together a video of their wedding wishes. The shock on Priscy’s face, the tears of joy in her eyes and the way she melted on the dancefloor made my day.
Just before the end of the night, Priscy called me over to her side and beaming with smiles. She said “Esa, give me a hug. You are a darling”. This simple gesture and comment was the highlight of Robert and Priscy’s wedding day for me.
